    3. Once you schedule and pay for your lessons, you'll receive a confirmation email. Your confirmation email will also allow you to add your lessons to your calendar (iCal, Google Cal, etc.).

  • After years of trial and error, we've discovered that most swimmers can accomplish their primary swimming goals within four (4) 30-minute swim lessons. Since our coaches assess each swimmer and then formulate a personal lesson strategy designed to tackle the needs of the swimmer, swimmers tend to learn faster and therefore, can accomplish more at a faster pace.

After the initial four (4) 30-minute lessons are completed, and if the swimmer would like to continue lessons to work on stroke development, the swimmer has the option of purchasing another package of four (4) 30-minute lessons or just a single 30-minute lesson.

  • The average time that a coach spends with a swimmer in a group lesson setting is five minutes. The average time with a swimmer in a private lesson setting is thirty minutes.

Over the years, our clients have told us that they have spent hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on group swim lessons only for their child not to learn how to swim.

All swimmers learn at different levels. It is very challenging for swimmers to get individualized attention in a group lesson. With group lessons, you have swimmers sitting on the side of the pool waiting for their turn; also, if you have a swimmer that cries throughout the lesson, the coach then has to focus all the attention on that particular swimmer.

We hear all the time, "Wow, what my child learned in the very first lesson with Worden Aquatics, they didn't learn in weeks of group lessons."

  • Cancellations

We understand life happens, and there might be times you'll need to cancel a swim lesson. If you need to cancel a lesson, please get in touch with our business office by email, phone, or text to reschedule. Please visit our contact page on our website for office hours, email address, and phone number.

Note: we understand that sometimes you'll need to cancel at the last minute, but if you need to cancel, we encourage you to give us plenty of notice (at least 4 hours before your lesson) so we can fill your spot. Keep in mind that our coaches are subcontractors and do not get paid if there is no lesson. Also, there may be times that a coach has to cancel a lesson due to illness or circumstances out of their control. If a coach has to cancel a lesson, one of our OTMs (Office Team Members) will contact you to reschedule. Thank you for being so understanding!

    Refunds

Unfortunately, there are no refunds for private swim lessons, swim teams, or crash courses. If you are unhappy with your coach you were assigned, please call or email us after the first couple of lessons. We will gladly move you or your swimmer to another qualified coach.

    Credits

Credits and gift cards do not expire.

    Attendance

Like we said earlier, life happens, and scheduling needs to be flexible - we understand this and try our best to accommodate your schedule. However, suppose you or your swimmer misses or cancels three consecutive weeks of lessons (for whatever reason). In that case, we will give up your lesson times slots to another swimmer, if needed. You'll be credited for whatever lessons you missed, and you can contact our business office to reschedule. All scheduling changes must be communicated with our business office. Schedule changes cannot be confirmed through your coach.

    1. Swimwear: One piece or two? Speedo or shorts? Just make sure it’s comfortable, fits well, and that you can move in it.

    2. Towel

    3. Goggles: Although not essential, wearing goggles is highly recommended by our swim instructors for the adult learner. Goggles will encourage better technique as well as protect your eyes from chlorine. Worden Aquatics recommends the Speedo Vanquisher on Amazon. Worden Aquatics will have some available for you to try.

NOTE: We provide Rash Guards to swimmers ages 6-months to 10-yrs.

  • Adults who are beginners will start with learning the basic safety skills (breath control through the mouth and nose, front and black float, and the beginning arm and kicking movements for freestyle) and progress to independent freestyle and develop backstroke technique.

  • For some kids, being in a new environment, trying something new, and being away from their parents is too much newness at once. And this is understandable. The screaming and crying will stop after 4 or 5 lessons.

Our private lessons are usually 30 minutes long, but you can schedule 15-minute lessons if your child screams the entire time. Each child develops water confidence at their rate. If your child is still crying after several lessons, we have tips and tricks you can try to make the lessons a more pleasant experience for your child, the instructor, and yourself. To learn tips and tricks on how to stop your swimmer from crying, visit our blog here: https://www.wordenaquatics.com/blog/is-crying-normal-during-private-swim-lessons

  • We swim rain or shine. Lessons continue when it is raining unless we have thunder, lightning, or heavy rain present or the bottom of the pool is not visible. Our office will text or call clients on the day of scheduled swim lessons if lessons are to be canceled due to inclement weather (thunder/lightning/heavy rain). We do our very best to notify clients at least 1 hour prior to scheduled lesson(s). However, weather cancellations are often made at the last minute due to quickly changing weather patterns in the Nashville metropolitan area. Lessons canceled by our office due to inclement weather conditions will be rescheduled. Please be sure we have your correct contact information, including your cell phone number, on the waiver form. Refunds will not be given due to inclement weather cancellations.

The safety of our swimmers is our top priority. We follow the regulations and guidelines of the Health Department and the CDC when it comes to lightning strikes. According to the National Lightning Safety Institute (NLSI), lightning strikes are random and unpredictable, and preparedness is the best defense for staying safe. If thunder and lightning are in the area, the coach will advise the swimmer to get out of the pool and head to a designated safety area. This policy includes both outdoor and indoor pools. Indoor pools are just as vulnerable due to piping (lightning can travel through pipes). Lesson activity will remain suspended until 30 minutes after the last thunder. The coach might have to reschedule that lesson for a different date and time. Thank you for your understanding.

  • A wetsuit is encouraged for the cooler months. You can purchase wetsuits for kiddos on Amazon.

NOTE: We do NOT provide Rash Guards for swimmers.

  • Absolutely! Parents of swimmers are welcome to remain on the pool deck and the pool area during lessons just as long as they don't disrupt the lesson or distract the swimmer. Please be aware that parents are not permitted to swim during the swimmers lesson unless a Mommy & Me lesson is occurring. Parents are more than welcome to take pictures and video just as long as it's not disruptive. If we feel that your presence is a distraction, you'll be asked to leave the pool deck area.

  • Worden Aquatics, LLC does not offer ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) classes. However, we provide an alternative method we teach in place of ISR called ISS (Infant Survival Swimming). ISR teaches kids that if they fall into the water, they turn over on their backs and await rescue. The Challenge that we find at Worden Aquatics is that when it is time to teach the swimmer how to swim, they can sometimes be fearful of putting their faces or heads in the water, for ISR teaches them to keep their heads "out" of the water. ISR is a life-saving method, but we always advise our clients of the challenges they may face moving into swim lessons after ISR.

Our method, ISS (Infant Survival Swimming), teaches our swimmers to relax, breathe through their noses, and not panic if they fall in the water. That way, they can come up and take a breath and float with their face in the water while kicking behind them to get to the side of the pool and hang on to the side until rescue arrives. Once they can accomplish that, we work on freestyle with proper breathing as well as backstroke.

  • There's the old saying, "You get what you pay for!" We have discovered that private one-on-one lessons are the most effective method in teaching swim lessons, and your swimmer learns faster in a private setting than in a group environment where individualized attention is minimal.

  • Yes! We love our special needs swimmers. In fact, Our founder and Managing Partner, Lauren Worden, trained a special needs individual who went on to win several medals in the Special Olympics. We have had many special needs swimmers over the years, and we will ensure that your special needs swimmer is matched with the right coach.

  • Absolutely! If you are active military in one of our five service branches, you get 10% off on all private swim lessons.

  • Even though we strive to keep the same coach for all of you or your swimmer’s lessons, it can sometimes be challenging to accomplish. Our coaches are subcontractors who have the leeway to set their schedules. Sometimes this can cause scheduling conflicts. However, ALL of our coaches are some of the best in the industry, and we have no doubts that any of our coaches can pick up right where the other one left off. Communication is critical for us. All staff, including our OTMs (Office Team Members) and coaches, communicate with each other to mitigate issues of a "fall through the cracks" situation.

  • We do not. We are a 100% serviced-based business and lease water or "lane space" from 3rd party pool facilities.
